Funding

How Humberside LMC
is Funded

The Humberside Group of LMCs Ltd is an independent, not for profit organisation. We are not a trade union.

The Required Levy

The Humberside Group of LMCs is funded by a levy that is statutory for GMS practices and by opt-in for PMS and APMS practices. All PMS and APMS practices in our area have opted-in and contribute to the Required levy. This amount is collected from practices and is based on an amount per patient. This is reviewed annually.

This resource funds the office and officers of the LMC. It also funds the servicing of the representative committees. This levy covers LMC services to all doctors working within a practice and is a tax-deductible expense.

The Voluntary Levy

This is a separate levy which is collected to fund the National Negotiating Committee (GPC) through the GP Defence Fund (GPDF) and supports national negotiations regarding General Practice and the important supporting work of the BMA lawyers. It also enables a contribution to be made to medical charities including the Cameron Fund, a charity that supports GPs and their families in times of poverty, hardship and distress by providing short-term interest free loans.

This rate is set by the GPDF and is also based on an amount per patient.
