GP partners in England have voted overwhelmingly in favour of collective action. 98.3% voted Yes, 1.7% voted No. Almost 8,500 GP partners voted in the ballot, a turnout of 67.7% of the electorate.
GPC England are urging practices to take action set out in their GP practice survival toolkit. It is for each practice to pick and choose which action as they see fit from the list of suggested actions, and GPCE are not recommending which action(s) to take. The GP practice survival toolkit and list of actions has been summarised with our advice on our website here. The full BMA guidance can be seen on their website at GP contract 2024/25 changes (bma.org.uk). These resources aim to help you decide which action(s) to take – the decision rests with you as GPs in your own practices and PCNs, and the LMC will support whatever action you wish to take.
You can find lots of information on the GP contract 2024/25 and collective action on our GP Contract – Resources – Humberside LMC page.
We have today added a new resource to this page – the Workload Rejection template letter can be adapted to use when your practice has been asked to complete a request which is not part of the GMS/PMS general practice contract. It can be used for any interface scenario with any provider, and includes a drop down menu for your team to select the relevant workload transfer.
Remember the LMC is here to support you – do make use of resources on our GP Contract – Resources – Humberside LMC page and contact us for advice if needed.
