The 10 Year Health Plan, published in July, is the government’s new strategy to reform the NHS through three major shifts from hospital to community; analogue to digital; and sickness to prevention.
The plan is short on detail and contains lots of long-term, high-level commitments. Although many questions remain unanswered, including exactly how the plan will impact on general practice, we have prepared an LMC summary of the document to bring you up to speed on the key points including:
- shifting care into the community
- national and regional operating model
- workforce reforms
- digital changes and ambition
- funding and contractual reform
- patients
- integration with the wider health system
