The GPCE officer team has had a positive initial contact with ministers and civil servants, and the Government has now agreed to return to formal bilateral discussions. GPCE is therefore temporarily postponing any further escalation of collective action. Their focus remains on securing a confirmed roadmap with the Government for a £50 per patient increase in core practice funding and clarity on turning unsafe demand into manageable care for our patients.

Practices are asked to help raise awareness of the challenges facing general practice and encourage public support. There are a range of posters and digital assets to display in practices. Click below to read more about the campaign and access the materials.

Practices are asked to decline any new shared care arrangements that are not supported by a locally commissioned formal agreement, adequate resourcing and clear clinical responsibilities. Practices are also urged to review existing Shared Care Arrangements to ensure they remain safe, appropriately commissioned, and are supported by up-to-date protocols.

Practices are asked to remove or ignore any non-contractual medicines optimisation software and amend your choices of acute prescription, which may fall outside the remit of the ICB formulary.
