General practitioners are being invited to join one of the world’s leading events focused on headache and migraine.
The 11th Biennial National Meeting on Headache is organised jointly by the International Headache Society (IHS) and the Department of Neurology at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The extensive four-day programme provides educational opportunities for healthcare professionals across both primary and secondary care, and working in varying different roles.
The event has been held in Hull since its inception in 2005 by the city’s hospital-based neurology team and is now the biggest headache educational event in the UK, attracting hundreds of delegates each year. In 2027, international experts will fly in to share their knowledge from as far afield as Denmark, Spain and the USA, while Professor Mario Peres from Sao Paulo, Brazil, will deliver the third Vicky Quarshie Memorial Lecture.
To promote learning across the sectors, parts of the programme have been designed specifically with the needs of GPs and primary care professionals in mind, covering topics such as paediatric headaches; migraine and co-morbidities; extended roles for GPs with Special Interest (GpwSI); and migraine, stroke and the elderly.
The meeting also attracts 16 external CME credits courtesy of the Royal College of Physicians (RCP).
On the final day, members of the public are being invited to attend to learn more about the conditions, advances in treatment, how lifestyle changes may affect their headaches/migraine, and will be given the chance to put questions to the experts.
The meeting is free to attend but should be secured by a refundable deposit. As the event in regularly sold out, early booking is strongly advised. There will be conference dinner on Thursday 21st January which is open to all delegates as a means of meeting and interacting with the speakers and invited faculty.
