The preparation and submission of the Pension Year-End presents a range of challenges for employers due to the infrequency of the process and the heightened complexity of payroll due to the expansion in scope within your “Employer (legal) Obligations.” It is important to note that the outsourcing of your payroll and/or the pension function does not discharge your legal obligations.

Key facts:

1. Your year-end data submissions are directly linked to the accrual of a range of scheme benefits including retirement benefits.
2. The impact and consequence of just one error within your payroll transactional activities will result in incorrect retirement benefits for life!
3. The contributions deducted periodically and submitted at the year- end must be correct. Due to the increased levels of complexities when assessing the tiered (employee) contribution rate to be applied, the level of risk of error has increased.
